Have you all heard of Sónar? The world’s leading Electronic music festival, that not only supports and highlights music, but also the fast growing technological advances in our world right now. Set to return to Hong Kong for its second installment at the Hong Kong Science Park on 17th March, 2018.
Sónar Hong Kong has just released their first wave of lineup, showcasing a range in different genres, from Hip Hop to Grime, to Techno, House and Expereimental Electronica. With French electronic legend Laurent Garnier, US tech-house sensation The Black Madonna, and Japanese jazz-infused post-rockers Mouse on the Keys topping the bill.
Although many would argue that festivals like these we should all anticipate the international acts that seldom comes the city to perform. But we also appreciate that organisers like Sónar takes this opportunity to also introduce to audeinces local music perfromers and choices, this year, local highlights include rapper Fotan Laiki, DJs K-Melo, Re:Flex, Sunsiaré, Basil Tam and Tedman Lee.
BOOM’s Highlight: Since it’s 25th anniversary for the Sónar brand, the festival is celebrating this occassion with a one-of-a-kind artistic and scientific experiment by sending musical messages to outerspace in search of extraterrestrial intelligence. The three pieces chosen by the judging panel will be announced by April 23, 2018 and each of the three winners will receive a pair of VIP Passes to attend the 25th Sónar festival in Barcelona on June 14-16, 2018.
