“EDC China: where the headliner is YOU”

EDC EDC China is not just the usual music festival. Its format varies a lot from all the other kinds of gathering you can find in Asia.

Its main ingredients? Your fun and your active participation!

We spoke to the Scarlett Li, Vice President of EDC China to find out more about what makes this festival so special.

“EDC China is the most credible, fun and elaborate EDM carnival type of festival in China,” says Scarlett. “We focus on the party, carnival experience for our audience.”

Scarlett made a start in the festival biz back in 2009. “It is a great format, that can bring all kind of people together to have some fun time.” Such a long experience in the business surely helps Scarlett comes up with constant new ideas and overcome the difficulties. “It is very tough to organize this kind of events in China,” she says. “It takes years of experience and tireless efforts”.

Unlike many other music festivals of this genre, EDC China puts the audience in the spotlight, actively encouraging the participation of attendees. “We call our audience the headliners.”

To achieve this variety of participation and fun, the festival involves many other art forms, apart from music. While walking around the festival site, for example, you can bump into the Funkdafied Freaks, a bunch of dancers, aerialists, circus performers who will make sure you’ll have the best time of your life.

That’s how the festival “pushes the envelope to make things you’ve never experienced before”.

The exclusivity of the event is also ensured by the attentive choice of the location.

“Zhuhai is the perfect location, right next to the seaside, for the audience coming from the Guangdong province, Macao and Hong Kong, within forty minutes travel from everywhere.”

The huge success achieved by the team of this festival couldn’t be as satisfying if their core values weren’t respected.

“We want to ensure that everyone has fun in life, we want to create moments when everyone feels welcomed, without any racism, or sexism.

A lot of attention is also put into the selection of artists for the lineup.

It takes two separate teams to go through the selection process: a China team and an international team “work together hand in hand to curate an interesting but also an appealing lineup.”

This year’s lineup includes artists such as: Daro, Nucleya, Sophie Francis, Party Favor, Seven Lions, DJ L, Mansun, Fisher, Snakehips, Gryffin, Oliver Heldens, W&W, Hardwell, Alison Wonderland, Tchami, Discosure, Yann Cavaille, Moe, Riot Ten, Crankdat, Barely Alive, Pendulum, Snails, Flux Pavilion, Anmuring, A-Da, Crystal Q, Tronic Crew and Luminn.

If you’re an up and coming artist willing to perform at EDC China next year, Scarlett has a word for you: “We like work hard and play hard people.” That’s a great motto, isn’t it?

So, if you want to have the best time of your life, don’t miss EDC China! You can find more information about the festival on the official website.
